GeForce Now x Starhub Review (Singapore GeForce Now)

Image from gamehubplus.com

Introduction

GeForce Now just opened its trials to public which is amazing to allow people with low performance computer to get a taste of high-computing/performing computer on the cloud without having to buy it however there only a 30 day trial available for the user to try it out and a subscription fee of S$19.99 afterwards for its users. At first glance it looks like a amazing deal however it is compared against Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which also cost S$19.99 with games but not yet supported for Cloud Gaming in Singapore.

Performance

The GPU it was using was RTX T10–8 that was comparable with the RX 6700XT however it is questionable why such GPU was used instead of a non-professional graphic such as a more gaming focused graphic card like RTX 3070 for example or RTX 2000–3000 series graphics cards.
However, the performance was superb with minimal lag and latency with 3–4ms average while using GeForce now on LAN connection. Check below for my review on the 5G and WIFI gaming experience

Game Availability

Popular games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Far Cry 5, Fortnite, Metro Exodus and over 1000 games title is included.

However, don’t be shocked some titles like GTA V being not available for streaming.

GEFORCE NOW APP

Windows 10 (Image below)

The layout of the app could be confusing at first however after a while you will get used to it. with the Overlay button Ctrl+G to show some shortcuts and settings such as recording or show statistics. However the design is simplified to ensure that no one get confused over what is what.
The app has one annoyance that people may hate as every time I launched a game it required a login for example steam account it applies for (origin, ubisoft, etc) before you even launch a game you already needed to login to your steam account to sync with it or your epic games. It is indeed a troubling issue.

Gaming Experience

LAN
It is rather smooth with great resolution capped at 1080p 60 Fps with some minor hiccups(sudden lag).

WIFI 6 (5Ghz)
Its resolution of the stream was average with sometimes dipping into the poor quality range and its connection to the server somehow dipped to poor despite the test device close proximity to the router however result may depends on where you are at to the router. *Results depends on (WIFI Speed, Ping, Proximity, Type of router)

5G Gaming Experience
Oh yes, This is one of the most popular question nowadays since 5G is out now with marketed unbelievable speed. Ok so the summary I can say from my experience of gaming on a 5G network with GeForce Now is that it mostly smooth with minor lag and latency. The resolution is alright since I tested it out on an S21 Ultra and its not big enough for the screen but it does alright. However it is recommended to have a controller since most games required a type of input device to play.

My Final Thoughts after 24 days of using it.
Pros:
+ An alterative of owning a gaming computer which nowadays cost crazy expensive
+ Able to use it on the go
+ Does not eat up much battery (depends)
Cons:
- High data usage depending on setting selected.
- Battery Usage
- Latency while gaming (Cannot be removed due to its nature)
- Expensive
- Need to own the game to even play it on GeForce Now

It is not worth considered that Xbox Game Pass have Cloud Gaming(Not Available in Singapore yet) that much more worth compared to GeForce Now which requires you to own the game to even play it on while Xbox Game Pass Cloud Gaming does not need you to own the game as it is part of the subscription. However, *It is yet to be available in Singapore*.
